First 24 hours
Get medical care, tell your supervisor, and write down how and when it happened. Same-day reporting keeps the claim clean.

Your first week
New York has a seven-day waiting period before wage benefits begin; keep treating and keep a record of the work you miss.

Your first 30 days
Report the injury to your employer in writing within 30 days – this is the notice deadline that protects your claim.

Filing the claim
You generally have up to two years to file your formal claim (Form C-3) with the Workers’ Compensation Board.
